Tree Trimming: Before-and-After
Aurora Treeworks hears many questions from customers over and over again from customers, and rightfully so. You want a tree service that is competent and will not make a tree fall on your house. You want a tree service which is ethical and is not out to take all your money for nothing.

Many common questions we hear are "How are you sure we will not have the tree fall on our home", or "How do you climb to such tall heights without falling off and injuring your self"? These are all legitimate questions, and down below, you will find the answers to these and other common questions.

How do you remove trees without damaging my property?

Picture of dead bark chipping off a treeDead bark chipping off a tree
This is the most common question we receive and is very often the first question we hear. It makes sense. Why would you hire a tree service to take down your tree if the tree is going to inevitably fall on your house? No one is trying to become homeless from hiring a tree service.

Answer: We are able to prevent a tree from falling on your property by using our cables and wires and securing the tree on the ground. If need be, we are able to use our cranes to move the tree in the direction we wish to go, if the tree is in a very narrow crevice where precision matters. Regardless, we have crews of arborists, tree climbers, and workers who have taken down many trees and practice universal precautions when taking down a tree. How they would take down a tree for a family member is the same level of precision they would do for you.

How do you get very high in trees without hurting yourself?

No arborist works for us if they do not pass our training sessions, which take up to a month. We go through the trainings every day, from how to climb, to holding the harness, to putting on safety equipment, when to call for help, and how to cut tree branches effectively. We put safety first in everything we do, because we do not want to see injuries on the field. The last thing we want is for an arborist to go into a tree and come home in a wheelchair. We value the health of our employees and mandate safety training twice a year to go over all the fundamentals.

How Often Should I Prune My Own Trees

Picture
You should prune your trees when you notice you see a decline in fruit production. You are able to tell that when you see that, over time, the amount of fruit produced in the tree is lacking color or not being produced at a rate you expected. Be wary of attempting to solve this issue by yourself, as many novice tree trimmers have inadvertently made their trees exposed to infection by insects from over-pruning. An infection may take down a branch, a huge portion of a tree, and possibly an entire tree if the infection goes on long enough.

If it is winter time, trees do not produce many plants in that time. However, once the coldest part of the winter passes, that is a great time to prune because the plants will be able to grow more as the winter season continually leads to warmer weather while it hits spring time. For more information, you are able to visit the tree trimming and pruning page.

How do I know if my tree is infected?

Many plant diseases look very similar to each other, so it is difficult to give a spot diagnosis. It is similar to a doctor saying that a patient has a certain disease just by looking at them. Sure it may happen once in a blue moon; however, it is not a regular occurrence. Similarly, we analyze the entire tree in order to see what is going on. Infected trees usually have signs of bark damage, discoloration, wilting, or powdery mildew. It may also have hard gray growths, such as fomentarius. Fomentarius is a fungus that damages many trees like cherry and maple. There may also be black flowers and shoots, light brown leaves near the base of the tree, yellow or brown leaves. In addition, you may see leaf spots on the tree or shrubs, cottony white masses (possibly come from insects like woolly aphids, scale, or adelgid), holes in the bark (insects eating the trees), sticky substances on your plants (mold which is excreted from insects such as aphids and whiteflies after eating plant sugars, which is a sign of the shrub or insect being eaten by insects), stunted leaf growth, stunted tree growth, or thin trees and shrubs.
